This box was inspired by a piece of riven ash wood from a tree that was taken down on our property some years back. The undulations suggested ocean waves, or maybe a hillside. The obvious thing to do would be to put that texture on the outside of the box. Instead, those creases and valleys are on the inside for someone to discover when they lift the lid.
